From survival to wisdom
Meet Tegan Hunt
I know what it’s like to burn out inside a system. I spent 15 years in government, raising a family and surviving cancer while working in high-pressure, high-volume environments. That experience now fuels my work — helping people and organisations cut stress, reset, and reconnect with what matters.
The Mission
I don’t do this work because it looks good on paper. I do it because I’ve lived it.
I’ve walked through environments where psychological and physical safety didn’t exist. Where regulation was a buzzword, not a lived experience. Where leadership was more about power than presence.
I do this work because workplaces are full of humans, and humans carry trauma, stress, and generational pain in their bodies. Especially Aboriginal people. Especially people like me.
I’m here to show a different way. One that’s embodied. Human. Regulated. Real.
Before The Hunt 4 Healing, my world as I knew it completely fell apart.
I didn’t wake up one day and decide to change my life.
It happened slowly.
It happened painfully.
And sometimes it feels like it was imposed upon me and happened all at once.
By 16, I'd escaped domestic and family violence, carrying trauma in my body that I wouldn’t even begin to name or understand until decades later. I’d experienced homelessness, instability, more violence than any child should know, and had to grow up far too soon because of it. That survival mode didn’t just live in me, it ran me. And I wore it like a badge of honour.
I worked in maxium security prisons by 22. I buried my best friend and my only grandmother within the same year. I rose through the ranks, but never without a cost. The chaos of my lived experience and the dysfunction of the professional environments mirrored one another, and the cracks were starting to show.
Then came 2018.
After refusing to stay silent and conform in a toxic workplace, I found myself the target of sustained bullying and institutional betrayal resulting in workers’ compensation, that’s when my world really began to unravel.
I fell pregnant during that time. And then, at 6 months pregnant, I was diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer, 2 months later my father passed away. My body broke. My identity shattered. My nervous system collapsed under the weight of relentless trauma. It was one of those times where life just kept coming.
But the worst part wasn’t the cancer, or the betrayal, or even the grief. The worst part was losing myself.
Who was I if I wasn’t the woman who held it all together?
Who was I if I wasn’t “Tegan Hunt, the strong one”?
My whole life, everything I had ever known - imploded.
And still, I kept going.
It wasn’t until after I decided to unravel an abusive trauma bonded relationship that something inside me said: Enough. Something has to give.
The real work and turning point - Choosing a different way
It didn’t start with breathwork. It started with the work no one sees. The slow, gritty, unglamorous work.
I began with somatic training.
With attachment theory.
With reclaiming wounded, disowned and unwanted parts.
With nervous system regulation.
With polyvagal theory.
With Neuroscience.
With unpacking my own bypassing and survival mechanisms.
I didn’t 'heal my trauma', trauma never leaves you, I changed and healed my relationship with it - I trained my system. Like any form of conditioning, it took reps. You don’t become a black belt in martial arts by watching a video. You get on the mats. You show up at the dojo, especially when you're scared and dysregulated. Especially when you don’t want to. That’s what builds resilience, and regulation.
The truth is, the biggest lie we tell ourselves is that we need fixing. We don’t need fixing. We need acceptance. We need compassion. We need connection, with ourselves first, before we can give it to anyone else. This work taught me how to love the parts of me I used to berate, suppress, and run from. The scared parts. The angry parts. The ashamed parts. I met them all, in my body, not just my mind.
This was the start of embodiment. It wasn’t a breath at a time. It was regulation by regulation. Integration by integration. Moment by moment, I stopped abandoning myself, and I started choosing myself. That’s how my nervous system started to come back online. That’s how I began to experience a new kind of safety, one that I built from the inside out. A safety I'd never known or experienced before.
Years later, I discovered the full spectrum of breathwork, and it took everything I had already been learning and amplified it. It gave me a language and a practice that transcended words. But the foundation was already laid. Breathwork wasn’t the beginning for me. Self-connection was.
What I Bring to the Table
I’ve lived and worked in high-pressure environments. I’ve led programs in some of the most emotionally volatile systems in the country. I’ve witnessed first-hand how unchecked stress, cultural ignorance, and emotional illiteracy break teams, drive absenteeism, and breed toxic workplace culture.
Now, I walk into those spaces as a leader in liberation. Not to fix people. But to give them the real practicle, tangible tools to meet themselves.
My approach integrates:
- Somatic training and nervous system regulation
- Breathwork (full-spectrum, trauma-aware, embodied, breakthrough and performance)
- Reclaiming disowned parts, emotional patterning and inner resource recovery
- Strategic coaching that meets both the individual and the system
Because regulated people lead better. Connected people create change. And systems only shift when the humans inside them do. Without the humans, there is no system, and most of ours are failing the people in them...
And If You're Still Wondering, “But Who Is She?”
I’m Tegan Hunt.
A proud Aboriginal woman. A solo mum. A fighter. A learner. A strategist. An MMA enthusiast and a facilitator of the hard stuff. I’m not here to help you tick a wellbeing box. I’m here to transform how people show up, connect, and lead.
Because when we feel safe enough to be ourselves, we finally have space to become ourselves.
Your organisation can't afford to stay dysregulated. Ready to work differently?
